Aussie Broadband Sucks!

Telstra chief executive Sol Trujillo said today he agrees with media mogul Rupert Murdoch that Australia's access to high-speed broadband is a disgrace. Mr Trujillo said that developed countries such as the United States, Canada and Germany had or were planning to provide regulatory relief to facilitate investment in broadband infrastructure.

"Everyone does understand how important it is for their economies to assist in getting fibre (fibre to the node) now deployed throughout their countries," Mr Trujillo told a luncheon of the Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce. "So when you look at world travellers and global citizens such as Rupert Murdoch, who two weeks ago said access to high-speed broadband was a disgrace and that we're being left behind and will pay for it, from me, you will find no argument." "I wholeheartedly agree that high-speed broadband is critical for this nation to be globally competitive."
