Ramadhan Is Here Again!

The Muslim Holy month of Ramadhan is here again. In this Holy month, Muslims all over the world have to fast from food and water from dawn to dusk. Sex is also to be abstained. In Malaysia, fasting is expected to start on Saturday, 21st July 2012. I have been fasting since the age of 10. Before starting to fast, Muslims are encouraged to take a tiffin, a meal before dawn. Muslims believe that the gates of Heaven are open during this Holy month and that the hands of Satan are tied. Thus, preventing Satan from whispering to humans to do bad deeds. At night, Muslims are also highly encouraged to perform the Tarawih prayers, in addition to the compulsory 5-times a day prayers. It has been scientifically proven that fasting can cure many ailments and is good for the stomach and the the body's overall health system. Muslims believe that during the fasting month of Ramadhan, there exist a night called "Lailatul-Qadr" (Night of Power) where good deeds are rewarded as though one is doing it for 1,000 months. Muslims are also also encouraged to donate generously and are required to give alms. They are also highly encouraged to recite the Holy Al-Quran. One of the reasons I love Ramadhan is because I have the chance to prove my faith in God.
