The Holy Month Of Ramadhan Is Here Again!

Yes, the blessed month of Ramadhan is here again. The 1st of Ramadhan, 1436 Hegira started on 18th June 2015 in Malaysia. In this holy month, Muslims throughout the world will fast beginning from before dawn and ending at dusk. One of the objectives of fasting is to replicate the hardships of the poor and underfed people. During fasting, Muslims are to abstain from eating, drinking, having sex and even smoking. This will inculcate more spiritual strength and to teach all Muslims to be thankful in whatever they possess. In this month, believed to be during the last ten nights of Ramadhan, there will be a night called "Lailatul-Qadr". Muslims believe that this night is better than a thousand months, meaning that prayers during this night will get rewards magnified like one thousand months. To all Muslims, I would like to wish all of you a blessed Ramadhan!

Ramadhan Is Here Again!

The Muslim Holy month of Ramadhan is here again. In this Holy month, Muslims all over the world have to fast from food and water from dawn to dusk. Sex is also to be abstained. In Malaysia, fasting is expected to start on Saturday, 21st July 2012. I have been fasting since the age of 10. Before starting to fast, Muslims are encouraged to take a tiffin, a meal before dawn. Muslims believe that the gates of Heaven are open during this Holy month and that the hands of Satan are tied. Thus, preventing Satan from whispering to humans to do bad deeds. At night, Muslims are also highly encouraged to perform the Tarawih prayers, in addition to the compulsory 5-times a day prayers. It has been scientifically proven that fasting can cure many ailments and is good for the stomach and the the body's overall health system. Muslims believe that during the fasting month of Ramadhan, there exist a night called "Lailatul-Qadr" (Night of Power) where good deeds are rewarded as though one is doing it for 1,000 months. Muslims are also also encouraged to donate generously and are required to give alms. They are also highly encouraged to recite the Holy Al-Quran. One of the reasons I love Ramadhan is because I have the chance to prove my faith in God.

Happy Ramadan!

Yesterday was the first day of Ramadan. All Muslims are required to fast from pre-dawn to sunset for a month. It has been scientifically proven that fasting is good for one's health. After eating for a year, it is only common sense to give our stomachs a break. While fasting, Muslims are prohibited from eating and drinking. We are also required not to commit any sins. What sets out fasting in Islam from other religions is that Muslims are recommended to take sahur, or a meal, before dawn. This meal will give the necessary energy required to last the day. I started fasting since I was 10 years old. To all Muslims, I wish you Happy Fasting!
