A Meaningful Dinner
Four hours ago, I had the pleasure of having dinner with two ex-classmates at TGIF, One Utama. Both of them brought their families. I could not bring mine as my daughter was still at school. My last trip to TGIF had been to its Subang Parade outlet on the eve of my 40th birthday last year. This time, I orderd grilled salmon, mocha mud pie and mango juice. It was superb. We had fun talking about the good old times and the who-is-doing-what-now-where routine. Many names were mentioned and recollections shared. Oh how time flies...
Yeow Seng Teck was in the same class as me while in form 4 Science 3 (1980) and 5 Science 3 (1981) at the Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur. He is now a project manager with a Singaporean construction firm and is a civil engineer by profession. It has been 25 years since I last met him and I managed to recognize him when we met just now. He has not changed much, although he has replaced his once thick spectacles with contact lenses. Seng Teck stumbled upon my personal website two months back and e-mailed me after that. We contacted each other then and I was only too glad to help him trace his old school friends whom I had also been in touch with. He is now on a holiday back to Kuala Lumpur.
Dr. Chua Chwee Eng studied medicine in Liverpool, United Kingdom. He was my classmate while in form 1A1 (1977), also at Victoria Institution. Only to leave the school in 1979 to study for his O levels overseas. He is now based in Melbourne, Australia and comes back home every now and then. Dr. Chua is now a successful entrepreneur with a lovely wife. I will make it a point to look him up when I visit Melbourne in the near future. It will be great and I will certainly have fun then. Thanks for the meaningful dinner, Seng Teck and Chwee Eng. Take care!
