Are The Reds On The Rebound?
Liverpool FC (The Reds) has made its worst start to a season since the mid-50s, when they got relegated. Relegation is not in the dictionary of any die-hard and fanatical Reds fans or supporters. It looked like a stark reality at one stage. The good news is that, after the goalless draw away to Napoli, The Reds still top their group albeit leaving Gerrard and Torres home. And after beating Blackburn Rovers 2-1 during the last weekend, are the Reds on the rebound?
An acid test to this question is when they meet Bolton Wanderers this Sunday (October 31st, 2010) and a win will certainly boost The Reds' chances of avoiding the dreaded drop. The Reds still occupy the bottom three relegation spots in the 2010/2011 English Premier League and many have not only written them off as title contenders, but also contenders for any competitions in Europe. Of course, the ball is round. Anything can and will happen.
The team seems to be improving with each match. Against Blackburn, the Reds showed a display of fine attacking prowess. Maybe a string of successive victories would bring the Reds up to the top four positions in the EPL. Yes, it is still early in the season and like me, I am sure all The Reds' fans have similar expectations and hope.
With the ownership saga over, it's now up to the new American owners to provide some cash for Roy Hodgson to bring in new quality players. Maybe this is easier said than done. But this action is imperative. Mr. Hodgson needs to plug loose holes in The Reds' game and play Gerrard and Torres to their strengths.
It is still early in the season. By the time it ends, Liverpool would hopefully finish where it rightly belongs amongst the Premiership elites. YNWA.
