Red Sox Win Rights

It is just plain ridiculous to see on the idiot box that the Boston Red Sox has won the rights to talk to Japanese star pitcher Daisuka Matsuzaka for a reported US$51 million, beating arch-rivals New York Yankees and a host of other interested teams. Matsuzaka helped Japan to become champions of the World Baseball Classic last March and was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament. Red Sox will have a month to negotiate and close a deal. Matsuzaka would return to his current team, Seibu Lions for 2007 if the Red Sox cannot reach a deal with Matsuzaka and the bid money would be returned.
