My Recent Medical Operation

After two postponements, I was finally contacted by the Ampang Government Specialist Hospital to check myself into the ward on Sunday, 20th May 2012. Before checking in, I stayed up all night and had the chance to witness Chelsea lift the Champions League trophy. I got to the hospital by taxi because the bus service in my area is pretty unreliable. Upon checking in, I was requested to change into hospital attire. It was around 9.30 a.m. I was already hungry as I did not have breakfast. As expected, the ward staff did not order lunch for me and I had to settle for the loaf of bread that I brought to satisfy my hunger pangs. I finally got to eat something for tea, and later, for dinner. The evening was quite uneventful and I was bored to death. Most of the time, I listened to the mobile phone radio. I was asked to fast from 12.00 a.m. onwards that night and I slept through the following morning. My operation took place at around 3.00 p.m. I was given anaesthetic on my spinal cord, meaning that I could not feel a thing below my waist. I was awake throughout my perianal sinus operation and before it started, I prayed very hard that it would go on smoothly. One thing I remember about the operation was that the operating theatre was very cold. Sometimes, I was shivering. Within the hour, my minor operation ended and for that, I was very grateful. It took a further 2-3 hours before the effects of the anaesthesia wore off and I had a decent dinner after that. I slept like a baby that night. The following morning, the doctors stitched my wounds and dressed it, and after the consultant doctor said that I could be discharged, I was already looking forward to be reunited with my wife and daughter. All in all, except for minor glitches, my stay had been a pleasant one and I would like to thank all staff for their kind attention and help throughout my 3-day stay.
